Granny square table runner

I had never made granny squares. So I googled and found this great tutorial on Craftpassion.  I followed this tutorial and made some granny squares. Then I joined them together and added border to make this table runner.

Abbreviations/ stitches used (US terms)

Ch- chain
Tr- treble crochet
Dc- double crochet
Sl st- slip stitch

Things you will need:

  1. Worsted weight yarn in 5 colours (4 colours for granny squares and 1 colour for joining and border)
  2.  I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook
  3. Yarn needle
  4. Pair of scissors

Make total 12 granny squares. I used 4 colours and I made 3 granny squares of each colour. I have worked the 1st round in a ch instead of 4 ch circle or magic ring method. Click here for the details.

Joining the granny squares together:

Now arrange the granny squares as per the picture or you choice. Join the squares together with flat slip stitch. You can also use your favourite method for joining the squares.

Wanderlust ribbed beanie

It's a beginner friendly pattern that involves no increases or decreases. Beanie is worked flat in a rectangle, the the sides are sewn together and the top is closed. I have used Nako sports wool bulky yarn which is perfect for winter. It is 25% wool and 75% acrylic yarn, which provides sufficient warmth. In addition to that, wool provides strech and elasticity to the beanie. I would totally recommend wool-acrylic blend or 100% wool yarn for this project, but you can also use acrylic yarn. (Only adult sizes are available for free here on my blog. Paid pdf is available on Ravelry which includes all the sizes from preemie to adult large.) Check out the beanies made by my amazing testers. This cute little boy is a perfect model for this beanie.
