Alternate method for magic circle

I was making some solid granny squares. And then I realised that the last chain from the hook can be used as 'a magic circle'. I made few more squares and this method really worked. 😁🤗 I used it in my granny square table runner.

I shared it on a facebook crochet community. Most of the crocheters were unaware of this method. And they thought this is a cool idea. So today I am sharing it with you. 😊

I will explain 1st round of dc flat circle, but you can use this method anywhere when working in rounds.

Round 1: ch 3, make 12 dc in the 3rd (i.e. last) ch from the hook. Join to the 1st actual dc with sl st. Pull the yarn end tightly, so that the ch will close completely without any hole. (Same as you do with magic circle).  (12 dc)

Close up: ch 3, 12 dc in 3rd ch from the hook, sl st. Pull the yarn end tighthy to close the ch.

Notes:

1. Crochet the ch little loosely, so you can make 12 stitches easily in it.

2. In the above pattern, ch 3 does NOT count as a stitch.
