Quick waistcoat stitch beanie ALL sizes

I love the look of knitted garments, very clean, no holes. But I cannot knit. So I crocheted this beanie which looks knitted. This stitch is perfect to include fair isle design too.

Waistcoat stitch is perfect to make your crochet work look like knitting. It is just single crochet, but instead of inserting the hook below 2 top loops of the stitch, it is inserted in between the post of the stitch ( you can see the little Vs). Decrease is also similar to regular sc, just insert your hook in Vs.

This beanie works up really quickly, because the large hook is used. Make sure you keep your tension little loose and use a pointier hook. I would also recommend a yarn which is slightly thinner than regular worsted weight yarn. But always make sure you have checked your gauge and it matches with the gauge mentioned in the pattern. This is very important for perfect fitting beanie.

Things you will need
Worsted weight yarn (prefer yarn that is slightly thin, like caron simply soft)

Closing top hole and attaching a pom-pom

Thread the tail onto tapestry needle. Now work through FRONT LOOPS of the stitches. Insert needle from inside of beanie, outwards. Repeat in all the stitches, without tightening as you go. Once you have finished working in all 6 stitches, pull the tail tightly, to close the beanie top as much as possible. DO NOT fasten off.

Make a pom pom or use a ready-made pom pom and attach to the beanie top with remaining tail. Weave in the tail inside the beanie.

Wanderlust ribbed beanie

It's a beginner friendly pattern that involves no increases or decreases. Beanie is worked flat in a rectangle, the the sides are sewn together and the top is closed. I have used Nako sports wool bulky yarn which is perfect for winter. It is 25% wool and 75% acrylic yarn, which provides sufficient warmth. In addition to that, wool provides strech and elasticity to the beanie. I would totally recommend wool-acrylic blend or 100% wool yarn for this project, but you can also use acrylic yarn. (Only adult sizes are available for free here on my blog. Paid pdf is available on Ravelry which includes all the sizes from preemie to adult large.) Check out the beanies made by my amazing testers.
